I didn’t know it then, but this choice changed my entire view on gaming…
There’s a moment before you press New Game where everything goes quiet.
No map yet.
No quest log.
Just a menu screen humming softly, asking a question you can’t really undo once you answer it: Are you sure?
This year, that moment wasn’t in a game.
It was in my word processor.
A blank page. A blinking cursor.
And a name I wasn’t even sure I deserved yet: Pause Menu.
